brutha from anotha mutha. . .

yeah, my friend Omid checked into my life again last night. He's one of those totally opposite me type person that we all need in our lives for balance. He has such a positive energy about him and always smiling. If Omid is not smiling, something is very, very wrong.

He's recently made his way back from Hawaii by way of Australia. His second or third journey to Oz where he's been adopted by the Ulungu tribe. Did I mention he plays the didgeridoo? and was born in Iran but his family left when the Shah came to power and he was a mere child, then lived in London and finally grew up here in suburbia outside of Houston. We met while students at UHCL and I helped him get many jobs; he's a hella of a designer and talented artist but then he found his true home in Austin. So now he eats, sleeps and dreams all things didgeridoo and Aborigine culture and just life in general.

so happy to have heard from this joyful person again. . . must add Austin back to list of places okay to visit again. . .

flexible, please remain flexible. . .

So could not fall asleep last night so was dog tired when 6AM called to get ready for the morning trip. Dunno why but I hate to pack the night before so I quickly packed for an impending airline flight, removing all liquids and sharp objects from carry on stuff and double checking make up bag for more assorted sharpy things. I get in the car, realize I should've gotten some gas last night and think to meself that I'll just see how far I can get before stopping to have to fill up again. Well suddenly it's almost 8 am and with a 9:35 flight and still a good hour away from the airport I say screw it I'm just gonna drive instead. I call Continental, get a refund on my airfare - since it was bought late it was fully refundable, call cancel the rental car and instead stop by my parent's for breakfast a quick visit with the girlchild - boychild was in school. I get back on the road and was checked into my hotel by noon-thirty. I order lunch from room service and have just enough time to relax before the scheduled now 3PM meeting.

All's well that ends well. . . and then get a call from my focal point (read: boss/manager type person) to inform me that the UT guy had something else come up and we might have to do this all again next week. But since we already have meetings all day tomorrow and next with more orange folks, I had to be here anyways, so it's all good. I finally had a chance to catch my breath, take a nap (yeah naps!) and now am heading out to join my friend Ruth for dinner. And maybe I can find Omid on some street corner, playing his didgeridoo and oh, gotta see if I can find the former "Father" Tim too. . . on perhaps some other street corner. No more of my friends are allowed to move here b/c there seems to be a trend of all the kewl folks now living here. And the Bertins, man I forgot all about them folks too - dang, how many street corners can I investigate here!

Austin, man, crazy city, gotta love it I guess. ;-)
