B/c there was so much more interesting stuff while on holiday, I avoided most "major" news outlets for several weeks. It always amazes me how the "rest of the world" filters and often runs American news stories as if they were really that important. They're usually not. I tell you I for one did not miss any of the political coverage and the bits of non-stop debate coverage, aka bickering and whinging. I wish they'd pass a law where presidential campaigning can only start 3- 6 months before the actual election and that there were only like 2 - 3 major debates. This prolonged process makes everyone look bad and is so tiresome, by the time the actual election comes, it's always down to the choice of "which candidate doesn't make throw up in my mouth" rather than who is the best candidate for the job.
Being away from constant intarweb access was also a nice respite. Email it not so urgent, I can always find out the news I need later, and life goes on despite me not being to read everything I usually read on the web. It was a good chance to gain some renewed perspective on projects, life and living. So in that vein, I'll be off to Home Depot to begin the process of being a new home owner (oooh, I bought some new power tools this week too!).
So to keep your websurfing up, here's the first set of links to some of the photos from the trip:
