Can someone remind me how to relax?
Sep. 15th, 2006 09:23 amFrom Jonathan this morning: "Our time is strictly limited. Every moment is precious because it will never be repeated and because we can never know how many more such moments we have left. We ignore our own impermanence at our peril. We must acknowledge this if we are ever to have perspective, which is, of course, the most crucial thing anyone can ever possess. If, this weekend, you could prioritise only your own need to keep things in proportion you will eventually see the right answer to every question."
So I slept all the way until 7am this morning. . .not good b/c I had planned to be on the road by 6 am. But good b/c I didn't sleep well at all the last two nights in the hotel and it made me stop and relax and realize I need to just learn how to relax again. I mean I do relax if'n you mean relax as in spending all day fishing with the nephews, or painting my office, or last night even some retail therapy but I'm always doing something when I relax. I realized this morning at breakfast, a spectacular view of the city of the Austin laid out before me, no appointments for the day and no deadlines or stuff that just has to be done today, that I don't know how to relax and do nothing. I'm just not good at nothing - so to speak.
So I had in mind last night that some day, when I had "more time" that I was gonna stop at Cabela's (the world's largest sporting goods/outdoor gear place and hit the Austin Fry's and oh, finally stop by the French Legation to find Tim and yeah, more of doing stuff but hey, that's how I relax.
