to cheer myself up mostly. . .

I have a house, intact, well mostly, and I WILL be able to move back in soon. So many others have gutted shells, waiting for word from government officials to decide if they can even rebuild. Take a look at these damage assessment maps, http://www.cityofgalveston.org/ every one of those red squares means the house will probably have to be bulldozed, yellow is borderline, the purgatory of the unknown. Even most green areas are still awaiting insurance settlements; all it means is they can rebuild not that they've even been able to start.

I HEART my truck. Yip, in case ya missed it, I bought a spiffy used Dodge Dakota pick-em-up truck. It rocks and makes things like buying water heaters and huge craftsmen toolboxes and gravel a joy.

I heart my generator too. It did us proud when needed and now stands ready for the next time the power goes out like Saturday night.

Job is going great! Busy, overwhelming, thrilling and exciting. Now if I can just solve the issue of collaborative publishing in a web-based system the world will be so much better for it.

For anyone else having one of those 'argh, life sux days' quick make a list of some good things. I mean give yourselves some credit, you're all amazing people who have some unique things to be thankful for - even if it's just stuff like being able to flush your toilet and hot water. ;-)
