Just when things couldn't get any busier. . . a welcome break. ;-)
Today all I have to do is:
- Doctor's appt for flu shot
- truck title registration transfer
-lumber liquidators - bamboo floor/ceiling planks
-Home Depot - furring strips and nails/screws to install above
-"Home" to measure for plumbing pipes
-Attempt to fix said incoming main water pipe
-Attempt to locate old/new plumber to get water heater installed
-call electrician to come 'hit' the water htr with power
-Call Flood and Wind adjusters to see if there is any update as to when they will even give me my first estimate of damages
-Start packing planning for London trip
- take small kitty back to her "home"
- buy 2 printers; one for Mother, one for Brother, install at both places
- put stop leak stuff and antifreeze in Dad's old* red truck (he now has a new and an old red truck)
- and then all the usual work stuff. . .

see, no worries ;) b/c just last night I got a call from FEMA saying I am NOW eligible for transitional housing assistance. all I have to do is call one of their approved hotels (of which all are full for the entire 150 mile area round here) and they will have my name on their list for a 'free' hotel room. wow - the efficiency is mind boggling - only 58 days after the storm I get an 'official' place to stay.

but first I'm gonna step outside and smell the mums - no roses atm, but the new mum type flowers I bought to spruce up the entrance of Mom's house are lovely and need watering so I'm off! oooh outside, what a concept, it looks lovely too, man I soooo wanna be fishing this weekend! wouldn't that be great to be out on the water this weekend in my new kayak? yeah, well reality, dinda, reality. . .

Happy weekend all!

If you've ever played Nintendo games you might wonder why they choose to make Mario & Luigi plumbers. It's b/c plumbers can come save your home from drowning in sewage when no one else can or wants to. So finally, my superheroes showed up to fix my plumbing! So now we have cold water and a flushable toilet! woohoo - it really is the small things. But alas, no hot water until Monday when the superheroes return to hook up the mammoth water heater I bought. yes, I totally over bought a huge 54 gallon unit when before I had a 30 gallon that was on its last legs but there's a reason to the madness.

I really, really want a tankless water heater but those require natural gas and the gas company is still inundated trying to restore service to folks from the storm so it would be months before new service orders are being taken. That and more plumbing costs for me. Well anyways, maybe by spring I can get that work done and then I will gift this water heater to whichever family member is closest to having their home rebuilt. Plus, I'm really looking forward to finally being able to fill up my entire bathtub rather than just 3 -4 inches with the old unit.

Plumber also said I "did a really good job" with my temporary fix last weekend on the stack. ;-) If'n I had big muscles like my plumber pretty sure I could figure out the rest of the work but alas my weka arms are not good at tightening pipes and moving large objects. Tomorrow we tackle some flooring issues and test out the ceiling plank install method. and holy carpet bats! only one week until London - ain't that always the way things work out.
