great mixed metaphor dream. . .

Woke to images of a really amusing dream. I find that if I realize I'm dreaming and I just lay there with my eyes closed and "look around" I can recall some amazing detail from the just ended dream. This morning's dream adventure included a ride on the Wonka-vator!
I was back at that USC campus for a meeting. (Much like my current job but USC instead of UT.) I ended up at the edge of the football practice field where many bandmembers were walking off in full uniform b/c it was picture day. I noticed that the buildings I needed to travel between were on neighboring sides of the field at a right angle; one across the back of the endzone, another on the left side of the field. I crossed through one building when I notice the elevator actually travels between the buildings. I get on the elevator and realize it is really more of an "inclinator" ala the Luxor's diagonally traveling elevators up the side of their pyramids. Then in pops Willy Wonka, Gene Wilder not Johnny Depp, to explain that it is really a "Wonkavator" and to "Hold on!" Then he disappears. (Don't ya just love dream cameos?)
I look out the window and see the track is indeed more like a runaway mine train ride and goes in all sorts of crazy directions. I decide to enjoy the ride and just hold on and enjoy the many loops, turns and really fast things that go by. I make it to my building and see smoke from a nearby building. I go to investigate and see that some trees are on fire and causing much smoke outside the building. I hear sirens and see firemen coming to the fire but it is quickly spreading and starts sending smoke over the field. I notice that there is a really old historical building next to the field that is now in danger. In my mind I know that this is an Australian sheepherding farm from The Thorn Birds, but how the heck it ended up in the middle of campus is a new mystery.
All I can do is try to direct folks away from the fire and smoke. I can smell the smoke. It is getting thicker and blocking my view of the farmhouse. . .
I wake up.
Highly amused.
If I were to analyze it, I can see all sorts of things my brain is currently trying to sort out but sometimes it's just more fun to enjoy the chaos and "Hold on!"
