I'm taking a trip.

I know you're all shocked but this isn't just any ordinary trip this is a journey. It started out as an invitation from a friend to accompany her on a celebration trip to New Zealand. After coordinating schedules with the other travelers it looks like they will "only" be able to enjoy the splendor that is NZ for a short two week time period in January 2008. Me, being easily influenced, and with my Kiwi friends on their way to visit me in October, started thinking that maybe I'll just stay for a while in NZ. So now I'm dreaming of spending a month way down under and am torn between more touring on the South Island or just general touring or just living some place near Wellington to be near friends and internet access.

A month would be long enough yes? to get it out of my system, that is I could stay a month. . . or more. . .

Sounds like heaven. Do you think you can be away from the boy child and the girl child for a whole month?

Now that he's in school, kindergarten, he's FIVE in a few weeks, OMG, he's so busy I have to schedule time with him. The girl child will also soon be starting in pre-k 3 or a Mother's Day out program. and now you have me missing them so I'll go see them tomorrow. But actually the bigger concern, as with all my travel, is my spoiled rotten, slightly psychotic feline child who hates anyone but me. No one touch or even go near her so I fear if something were to happen while I'm away, they would not be able to get her to a Vet. They tell me she's okay when I'm gone, sits in the window alot and doesn't act up until I come home but a month is a long time. So far I've left her for the Geneva trip and that was about 14 days and she did okay so we'll have to see how things go after we move and get settled in the new place.

Just been browsing my friends on lj and noticed your NZ icon. As a kiwi (NZer) myself I recommend touring the South island. Better scenery than the north. We have all the grand stuff in the south (Southern Alps etc.) Of course I say this as a South Islander myself who was born in Christchurch and lives in Dunedin. I'm not biased!! :)

I lived in Wellington for a short while about ten years ago which is why I'm drawn back there. I'll be touring the South Island with friends but want to stay a week or two longer than they can so I'm considering a homestay or something similar where I can work and tour at my leisure. So looking forward to getting back to the Milford Sound area and I fell in love with Picton though I can't say why.
