joys of renting. . .
Jul. 11th, 2007 10:55 amat least when the a/c dies, you can call someone else to come deal with the problem. More lessons learned: one big sink over two is not good - they replaced the two small kitchen sinks with one big one and now there's no place to rinse stuff if the sink is already full of soapy water.
Home warranties - must get the largest home warranty possible on the new house.
Cabinet space - must have deep and tall cabinets to accommodate stuff like extra appliances and large cookware, figure out how to use corner space
electrical outlets - this place has tons of em, that is a very very good thing
Hose bibs - plan to have at least two if not three, this place has one in the back
A/C vents - make sure they are not designed to aim directly at where you plan to place your sofa. also make sure thermostat has a timer
ceiling fans - not a big "fan" of these so to speak, but know that they are necessary down here. Plan to have the ones with remote controlled installed, even on the deck.
insect control - plan to have a regular exterminator b/c you live in a swamp, a very pretty swamp but it's still basically a swamp with tons of critters who want to come in and enjoy the a/c with you.
Bar height - need to figure out what's best for seating
Bookshelves - built-in? free standing? will need lots
dang but this coffee is good this morning; finally figuring out the new coffeemaker - it grinds the beans and puts them in the filter all by itself - magic. been staying up way too late, at least I'm catching up on work so maybe I can enjoy my Bday on Monday.
Neighbor's underwater fish light is so KEWL! I'm getting one installed soon. it's like having an aquarium but no maintenance. I took some video and will have to post up soon. there are hundreds of fish swimming in circles around the light and every now and then a huge mega-fish comes up and scares them all away, then they all come back and repeat.
must work now but first more coffee. . .
